Niagara Falls:
Natural Wonder or Tourist Blunder?

Niagara Falls: my first memories of the honeymoon capital of the world are full of water. I remember wearing "shopping bags" and going under the falls. I remember thinking to not drop my sunglasses over the rail. I remember seeing nature in its wonderous glory. What I do not remember? The commercialism that permanates this 'attraction' now. Were the bright lights, the rides such as the possibly related Over-the-falls IMAX ride and the not at all related HULK Ride and SPIDERMAN Adventure there when I was young? What does that have to do with this giant piece of nature? When I was walking around I noticed a booth selling disposable cameras for $20 by the park (goverment), is anyone accountable for this? I understand this may be to help with the local economy etc etc etc but that borders on a type of tourist blackmarket. And at $20 a pop you would expect the city to look a bit ...well...cleaner, safer, prettier...are words that come to mind. Ah well. Take a gander at commercialization at the falls below. For the tourists that don't understand the concept of falling to their death.
C.N Tower? Nope. Just another tall building trying to get you to pay to ride to the top and seeing the same thing you can do for free by walking. This is a representative of the Government of Ontario promoting tourism in the Niagara Region. Or a GIANT DANCING REESE'S CUP!

Well if you live in this city and you work in the tourism industry, sure there is some over priced ventures, but by the same token you can find that anywhere. Regardless if you like what you saw or didn't, you are still advertising for the city, by putting it down, many people go up and down the SKYLON TOWER every year, sure you can walk around and see it, but how far can you see? You mentioned that you participated in the Maid of the Mist, so you paid to be down below instead of up above, what makes your choice better? You don't think that being from "The Great One's" town is some sort of tourist draw? So you'd rather people just came and looked at the falls and then went home. Instead of taking in the "bright"lights and other things the city has to offer? Perhaps you should come back and look again, the wonder if the falls is still here, for those that come to see it, there is just other things that are offered as well. If you are jsut lookign for the nature, well then come for it, and it is a clean city, and it is pretty, when was the last time you saw some many gorgeous flowers? If you missed the millions that grow off in the wild or the ones groomed in the medians on the road maybe you should head to the Royal Botanical Gardens, where more wedding in the area oar photographed because of the beauty or head the Niagara Parks Greenhouse, even the Constervatory has some flowers for the butterflies to enjoy. Next time you condemn a city take more time to learn about it!
